Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Linguanta (“we”, “us”), operated by Linguanta, collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use our website and application at linguanta.com. We act as the data controller for this data.

1. Data we collect

We do not collect or store any personal data on our servers. Linguanta has no accounts and asks for no personal information.

  • Your learning data (saved words, flashcard progress, streaks) is stored only in your own browser using a technology called localStorage. It never leaves your device and is not readable by us.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider may automatically log technical request data (such as IP address, time of access and user agent) for security and operational purposes.

2. What we do NOT do

  • We have no user accounts, so we hold no emails or passwords.
  • We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal data — we do not collect any.
  • We do not send you marketing emails.

3. Cookies and local storage

We set no cookies. The app uses your browser’s localStorage solely to remember your saved words and progress on your own device. You can erase this data at any time by clearing your browser data or removing words in the app.

4. Third-party services

When you look up a word, your browser requests definitions directly from public dictionary services (dictionaryapi.dev and Wiktionary/Wikimedia). These services receive standard technical request data such as your IP address under their own privacy policies. We do not proxy or route these lookups through our servers.

5. Retention

Your learning data stays in your browser until you delete it or clear your browser data. Server logs held by our hosting provider are kept only for a short technical period.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to processing. Since we store no personal data about you on our servers, most rights are satisfied by the design of the Service itself. For server log questions or anything else, contact us at support@linguanta.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

7. Security

Because no personal data is stored on our servers, there is nothing account-related to breach. The Service is delivered over HTTPS.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new “last updated” date.
